Jasmine's story

During the Blue Jean Bash, Habitat homeowner Jasmine inspired us all with her amazing story of courage, hard work and vision of a better future for herself and her daughter Kyla. Learn more about Jasmine’s Habitat journey, plus watch her interview with Habitat Charlotte Region’s Shannon Hinson.

Throughout the evening’s presentations, we heard how racial inequality stifles economic mobility, and learned about ways that Habitat and our supporters, including presenting sponsor Ally Financial, are working hard to make positive impacts and improve economic mobility for all members of our community.

Habitat is committed to addressing the economic mobility and racial inequities in this community through homeownership. The tangible results of our work can be seen in the faces of the fourteen families that moved into their new homes during the height of the pandemic. Our construction team doubled down and focused on in process homes – working hard without volunteers they completed the projects and made the dream of homeownership a reality for these families.

At Ally we aim to “Do It Right” and that means making meaningful contributions that impact lives in the communities where we live and work.

We are focused on issues that impact economic mobility – and know that the stability that comes with home ownership can have a huge impact on the economic mobility of future generations.

The evening was highlighted by auctioneer Dan Lyles and his infectious ability to engage and entertain the audience with fun live auctions and the highly-charged Fund the Mission interactive virtual fundraiser.
