Habitat Gaston

Joining Forces

Habitat Charlotte Region and Habitat of Gaston County are excited to join forces to serve more families with affordable housing solutions. As of October 1, 2024, the affiliate will operate under the Habitat Charlotte Region name and will serve low-to-moderate-income homebuyers and homeowners in a three-county area, encompassing Gaston, Iredell and Mecklenburg residents.

Building Momentum

The cost of housing continues to outpace many working families’ ability to purchase homes, but Habitat Charlotte Region’s President & CEO Laura Belcher believes that as a combined organization, we can serve more families faster and more efficiently than the affiliates could separately. Combined, the new organization will partner with families from Charlotte to Gastonia and Pineville to Statesville, and will have:

  • Assets of nearly $69 million
  • Revenues of more than $52 million
  • Nearly 1,100 mortgages
  • More than 4,500 volunteers contributing nearly 80,000 hours of service annually
  • More than 230 employees

The One Night Build Gala

What an unforgettable evening! The challenge—to “build” a home in just one night—was straightforward yet demanding, and the Gaston community rose to the occasion. We are so grateful to our friends who attended and supported this, our first gala and celebration, since Habitat Gaston County and Habitat Charlotte Region joined forces. Your generous spirit transformed the One Night Build Gala into a vibrant celebration of community.

The evening featured former Habitat Gaston Board President, Patrick Mumford, and Habitat Charlotte Region President & CEO, Laura Belcher, as they shared the mission of Habitat and the greater possibilities ahead as a united organization. We honored Sally and Gwin Hilton for their decades of service to Habitat Gaston and our county as a whole.

As we move forward on this exciting journey as Habitat for Humanity of the Charlotte Region, we invite you to stay connected (follow Habitat Charlotte Region on social media) and continue to be the leaders, supporters, and advocates that you are. Thank you!
