CHARLOTTE, NC (Feb. 18, 2023) “As a man of deep faith and conviction, President Carter
embodies the Habitat for Humanity mission in many ways. His participation in the projects and initiatives of the organization for nearly 40 years has been an inspiration and a guiding light for the work we do every day. Along with our extended Habitat family, we are praying with his loved ones today as the former President enters hospice care. We wish them all the peace and blessings this world can provide.”
In 1987 former president Jimmy Carter and his wife Rosalynn joined hundreds of volunteers in Charlotte, North Carolina, to build 14 homes in the Optimist Park neighborhood for that year’s Jimmy & Rosalynn Carter Work Project. In addition, the Carters returned to Charlotte in the early 90s to dedicate a new park named in their honor. With the return of the Jimmy & Rosalynn Carter Work Project to the Charlotte region in October of 2023, the President and Mrs. Carter will once again be in the hearts and minds of Carolina.
