Trane Technologies Bolsters Sustainable, Affordable Housing

Trane Technologies bolsters sustainable, affordable housing through support of Habitat Charlotte Region’s New Home Construction program

Trane Technologies, a world leader in creating comfortable, sustainable and efficient environments, has committed a total of $90,000 to support Habitat Charlotte Region in creating stable, safe, health homes for families. $40,000 of Trane’s donation supports the affiliate’s New Home Construction program. These funds will help Habitat Charlotte Region reach their goal of building 36 affordable, energy efficient homes during the 2021 fiscal year.

“Affordable homeownership is a springboard for families in our community who have struggled to build personal wealth,” said Laura Belcher, President & CEO of Habitat Charlotte Region. “Having an affordable mortgage creates stability, reduces stress and allows family members to flourish.”

Habitat Charlotte Region works with income-qualified individuals and families throughout Charlotte, North Mecklenburg and Iredell Counties to become homeowners through its New Home Construction program. Upon completion of 16 weeks of homeownership classes and 300 Sweat Equity Hours, program participants close on their newly constructed home via an affordable mortgage from Habitat.

Last fall, another $50,000 donation from Trane Technologies™ helped to fund a revised Habitat New Homeowner Curriculum – including the production of an 8-video series on home maintenance for new Habitat homeowners.

“We were excited to partner with Trane Technologies to redesign our homeowner curriculum,” continued Ms. Belcher. “Their expertise and recommendations on indoor air quality helps ensure our homeowners are well-equipped to keep their homes operating efficiently, safely and comfortably.”

“Having a healthy home environment starts with access to affordable, comfortable homes,” said Jason Bingham, President of Trane Technologies’ Residential HVAC & Supply business. “Once in the home, homeowners have new responsibilities to maintain their home’s environment, and we have been happy to partner with Habitat Charlotte Region on providing resources within their homeowner curriculum to support this and help homeowners optimize indoor air quality and energy efficiency.”
