Trane Technologies, a world leader in creating comfortable, sustainable and efficient environments, has committed a total of $90,000 to support Habitat Charlotte Region in creating stable, safe, health homes for families. $40,000 of Trane’s donation supports the affiliate’s New Home Construction program. These funds will help Habitat Charlotte Region reach their goal of building 36 affordable, energy efficient homes during the 2021 fiscal year.
“Affordable homeownership is a springboard for families in our community who have struggled to build personal wealth,” said Laura Belcher, President & CEO of Habitat Charlotte Region. “Having an affordable mortgage creates stability, reduces stress and allows family members to flourish.”
Habitat Charlotte Region works with income-qualified individuals and families throughout Charlotte, North Mecklenburg and Iredell Counties to become homeowners through its New Home Construction program. Upon completion of 16 weeks of homeownership classes and 300 Sweat Equity Hours, program participants close on their newly constructed home via an affordable mortgage from Habitat.
Last fall, another $50,000 donation from Trane Technologies™ helped to fund a revised Habitat New Homeowner Curriculum – including the production of an 8-video series on home maintenance for new Habitat homeowners.
