Diverse – Equitable – Inclusive

At Habitat Charlotte Region, we envision a world where EVERYONE has an affordable place to call home.  That vision calls us to stand up for those experiencing housing inequities created in our communities and put equity and justice at the center of our work. We strive to be an organization that reflects the communities we serve and lifts the diverse voices of our employees, homeowners, volunteers, and donors.

Women Build 2023

What started as a casual conversation among a small group of Charlotte-area women in 1991 has grown into an international movement of women empowering women through affordable housing. To date, nearly 2,700 homes have been constructed by women crews in the U.S. and 30 foreign countries – and it started right here in Charlotte.

Every year, Habitat Charlotte Region invites women from across the community to consider being a part of this meaningful build. Fundraising initiatives for Women Build will take place throughout the summer and early fall.

Pride 2023

Working together with LGBTQ+ communities, volunteers, partners, and families, the Pride initiative of Habitat for Humanity of the Charlotte Region will continue the mission and vision of our organization. We do that by working every day to help provide EVERYONE with an opportunity to obtain, own, and maintain a safe and affordable place to call home.

Coinciding with Pride Week and Pride Parade in Charlotte in August, Habitat Charlotte Region is looking for sponsors and volunteers to help us make the dream of homeownership a reality.

Sponsorship Opportunities

Interfaith Build 2023

The Interfaith Build project officially began in January 2022. In an amazing display of unity, volunteers from the Muslim Community Center, Islamic Society of Greater Charlotte, Sikh Community, Church of Latter-Day Saints, The Park Church, and CN Jenkins Memorial Presbyterian Church came together to complete the home over the course of several build days.

Aspiring to engage different faith communities for good, Habitat Charlotte Region’s CEO Laura Belcher, Claire Trexler of the Trexler Foundation, and Suzanne Henderson of Bridge Builders put their heads together. As they searched for a way to collaborate and bring people of different backgrounds, ages, cultures, and religions together, the idea for the first-ever Interfaith Build was born.

This year we hope to again build upon the work we started in 2022 to create opportunities for diverse faiths to come together and experience the hope, love, and pride that our communities inspire.
