Review Program Requirements Before Screening

Habitat homeownership is possible for many working families, but it requires commitment and preparation. Please review the following requirements to ensure our program is a fit for your household.

    Housing Eligibility
    • I do not currently own a home.
    • I have reviewed the current housing need requirements and understand I must demonstrate a need for affordable housing.

    Income Requirements
    • My household income is at least $45,000 annually.
    • My household income falls within Habitat Charlotte Region’s current income guidelines.

    Review current income charts:

    Financial Readiness
    • I understand Habitat reviews employment history, debt obligations, credit utilization, and overall financial readiness.
    • I understand delinquent debt, recent bankruptcy filings, excessive debt, or other financial barriers may impact eligibility.
    • I will be asked to upload my two most recent paystubs so Habitat can verify the income information I provide.

    Program Expectations
    • I understand that Pathway Education comes before a mortgage application and that the homebuyer journey typically takes 12–24 months.
    • I understand that Habitat homeownership includes volunteer service, education, and community engagement requirements.

    Important Acknowledgement
    • I understand program requirements may change over time and may differ from information shared by former Habitat participants, family members, friends or community referrals.
    • I have reviewed the current program requirements and believe my household may be a fit for the Habitat Charlotte Region Homebuyer Program.
