We support affordable housing globally
Since 1987, Habitat Charlotte Region has tithed over $11 million to partner affiliates overseas, helping build more than 3,150 homes for families in need. Habitat for Humanity of El Salvador had been the sole recipient of international tithe and building support since 1993.
In 2017, Habitat Charlotte Region’s Board of Directors voted to add a second international partnership: Habitat for Humanity of Cambodia.
Following our 2020 merger with Our Towns Habitat, Habitat Charlotte Region joyfully continued the partnership with Habitat for Humanity Guatemala.
Each year, 10% of Habitat Charlotte Region’zs unrestricted income supports our International Partners.

El Salvador

On average, a single-family home in El Salvador costs about $8,500, consisting of two to three rooms with simple electrical and plumbing systems. For families earning as little as $251 each month, it’s a home of infinite value and opportunity, often allowing families to move out of houses with substandard construction and into affordable homes that are built to keep them safe during frequent earthquakes and extreme weather conditions.
Cambodia

Habitat Charlotte Region’s second international partner, Habitat for Humanity Cambodia, was recommended to the Board of Directors by the Tithe Committee and approved in summer 2017.
Nearly three-quarters of the Cambodian population lives on less than $3 per day. Cambodia’s average cost of a new home and land with secure tenure is $6,500. A new partnership with Habitat for Humanity Cambodia will provide even more opportunity to impact families across the globe in the coming years.
Guatemala

Founded in 1979, Habitat Guatemala is the oldest and largest international affiliate. Habitat Guatemala has provided over 100,000 housing solutions for over 600,000 people. But with a housing deficit in Guatemala of over 1.8 million homes, Habitat Guatemala continues to work incredibly hard in order to achieve the vision that everyone deserves a decent home.
On average, Habitat Guatemala serves over 4,000 families annually through new homes, home financing, home improvements, healthy home kits (stoves, filters, latrines), and disaster relief.
