Cultivate
Cultivate is a Habitat Charlotte Region neighborhood in East Charlotte, conveniently located near Highway 74 and halfway between Charlotte and Matthews. Tucked at the back of an established neighborhood and surrounded by mature trees, Cultivate offers privacy and a peaceful setting while staying close to city amenities.
This 16-home development was made possible through an extraordinary act of generosity: the donation of land by the Brooks family, owners of the beloved Brooks Sandwich House. For decades, Brooks Sandwich House has been a popular restaurant that has deep ties to the community. That commitment was evident when brothers David and Scott Brooks donated 2.1 acres of land to Habitat for Humanity—a gift that would create affordable homeownership opportunities in East Charlotte.
Thanks to the City of Charlotte’s new Unified Development Ordinance (UDO), Cultivate was designed with higher density—16 townhomes in lieu of single-family detached homes—creating more quality homes in this neighborhood. Additional support from Mecklenburg County, City Leaders, and Myers Park Presbyterian Church embodies a true spirit of collaboration.
Each home showcases the Elvira floor plan, featuring 1,280 square feet of open-concept living with 3 bedrooms, 2.5 bathrooms, modern finishes, and included appliances—plus two covered porches for relaxing outdoor space.
Construction wrapped up in 2025 and now Cultivate stands as a unique blend of accessibility and tranquility—a neighborhood that fulfills Habitat’s mission to create strong, thriving communities while preserving the Brooks family’s legacy of generosity for generations to come.
