Our Commitment to Hurricane Helene Recovery
Following Hurricane Helene’s devastation of Western North Carolina in the fall of 2024, Habitat Charlotte Region committed $500,000 toward recovery efforts to address the thousands of homes that were damaged or destroyed.
Thanks to a powerful partnership with volunteers, donors, the Avery County community, and the Appalachia Service Project, we have successfully met our goal of raising an additional $500,000. These funds are actively supporting our ongoing multi-year initiative, with active repair and rebuilding efforts underway to restore homes for families impacted by the storm.
Our Impact
Driven by the generosity of our supporters and the resilience of the community, our recovery efforts in Western North Carolina are making a tangible difference. Every dollar raised and every hour served translates into real stability for families rebuilding their lives.
As of June 2026, here is a look at what we have accomplished together in Avery County:
4 New Homes Constructed
11 Homes Repaired
721 Volunteers Mobilized
