Online applications are available on a limited basis due to overwhelming demand for Habitat Charlotte Region’s Homebuyer program. While the application cycle is closed, we encourage you to learn about the program’s requirements and the application process. Before You Apply

In order to complete an application during the open cycle, you’ll need to have a few things ready:

Income statements/pay stubs; most recent 60 days for the applicant (and co-applicant, if applicable)
Benefit letter (SSI/SSDI, VA, pension and/or court-ordered Child Support); you are able to include SSI/SSDI payments for minors if you or the co-applicant are listed as the payees
Complete work and rental history for the past two (2) years
A valid, frequently-used email address to ensure our communications are received
$50 non-refundable application fee; any major credit cards are accepted (fee waived for Veterans of the US Armed Forces)

We strongly encourage you to start gathering all of that information now prior to the next open application cycle. You’ll also want to make sure you’re familiar with the Homebuyer Requirements and Qualifications; while we welcome any and everyone to apply, you’ll know better than anyone if you are ready for the program.

After You Apply

Once you’ve submitted your online application to the Family Selection team, they will begin to process your application. Please be patient; your application was submitted along with hundreds of others that also need to be processed. You can expect to hear something from us within 8 weeks after applying.

If you have questions about the application you submitted, please email hbapplications@habitatCLTregion.org. Keep an eye on your email inbox – including junk mail – in case we’ve tried to reach you.

If your application meets the initial ability to pay criteria, you will be moved to a second phase of review for household information. You will need additional documents for this phase; download this second phase document checklist so you can be prepared to move forward quickly.

If your application is denied, don’t give up hope! Habitat Charlotte Region has plenty of resources to get you on track toward applying again in the future, whether it’s our Money Matters financial literacy course or another community organization referral.

Please list the Human Resource contact for your employer for future employment verification.

Once the application is successfully submitted, you will be redirected to a new page temporarily which states that we have successfully received your application.

Our application team is carefully monitoring the submission of payments and applications. We void or refund all duplicate payments as well as payments processed without a successful application submission. It could take anywhere from 24-72 hours for the refund to be successful.

It could take up to 8 weeks before initial contact has been made. Please check the email you provided daily after submission to ensure that you do not miss any communication from someone with an email address ending in @habitatcltregion.org.

Please search your email thoroughly (Inbox, Junk, and Spam). If you do so and have not received an email correspondence from anyone at Habitat Charlotte Region, you may send an inquiry email to hbapplications@habitatCLTregion.org.

Yes, you can file grievances with the Family Selection team by emailing hbapplications@habitatCLTregion.org.

The application will not notify you of missing elements. Read back over the application in its entirety and make sure that all fields have something filled in them (except for the DD-214 or Money Matters upload if neither apply). Be sure that the final acknowledgement box and the Captcha box has been clicked.

If you have already submitted payment, DO NOT submit a new payment.

If you do not have internet access or are experiencing difficulties after multiple attempts on your own, please call 704.376.2054 to schedule an appointment with a Processing Specialist to assist you in-person.

Please note that the applications can also be completed on a tablet or mobile device.

It is important that you maintain the same level of income or higher throughout the process, but do be advised that a change in job mid-process may effect your eligibility and we would encourage you not to make any major changes during the application process.
