For its continued support over the last three years to further Habitat for Humanity of the Charlotte Region’s mission to bring people together to build homes, communities and hope. The generosity from the Lowe's Foundation has fueled not just our Critical Home Repair and New Home Construction programs but our apprenticeship program as well. This program, which fosters hard work and molds individuals into leaders, is dedicated to training people to become New Construction Site Supervisors, which are paramount to the success of our organization.

Take it from Covert and Burton, two apprenticeship alums who would not be where they are today if it were not for the program.

As echoed in the video, the apprenticeship program is an opportunity to provide growth and new skills to individuals looking to progress their career in construction or the trades. This opportunity would not be possible without the contributions made by the Lowe’s Foundation. Planning, communication, problem-solving, and teamwork, to name a few – are transferable skills that become sharpened during one’s time as an apprentice.

continuing to learn

After serving two terms as an AmeriCorps member with Habitat for Humanity of the Charlotte Region, Katherine Riley knew her next step would be participating in the apprenticeship program. It allows her the experience to manage a construction site independently and the resources needed to hone her critical thinking skills to make assessments based on sound judgment.
